About the event
We are delighted to host a show/a party/a spring get-together at the eccentric and eclectic Caravanserai on May the 3rd.
We truly missed them and would love to celebrate the reunion listening and dancing to an array of euphoric music from all over the world. See you on the dance floor!
BUFFO’S WAKE BIG BAND
Buffo’s Wake is a 20 legged monstrosity, hatched in the murky backwater of Brighton, UK. Armed with an extravagant brass section, accordions, clarinets, violins and buckets full of bravado they waltz, tango, mosh and pogo their way through a vast array of influences from Eastern European folk tunes, Balkan brass bands and Slavic murder ballads, to punk rock and dark cabaret; telling tales of debauchery, disturbed nightmares and even more disturbing realities, with an unexpected nous for untold stories and unusually considered lyrics – when you can understand them, anyway.
A collective of musical misfits, drawn from a range of diverse backgrounds; Drum ‘n’ Bass DJs confront classical strings, DIY punks debate jazz obsessives, and introverted poets showdown with obnoxious showmen. Its a gloriously inconsistent mix of influences and personalities that will defy your expectations – unpredictable, chaotic and utterly engrossing.
In their time together they have toured all over the world, from American dive-bars to Scandanivian squats, sun kissed Mediterranean beaches to snow-capped Alpine slopes – always leaving behind an inspired, confused, sweaty, and often inebriated audience in their wake.
Chaotic-Klezmer-Carnival-Punk – with influences from Abba to Zappa, Buffo’s Wake will leave you dancing like a soul possessed!
shunTA!
shunTA! are one of London's most exciting party bands, with their relentlessly upbeat musical tour of the Balkans. Their slick, high tempo, thumping take on Romani and Eastern European folk tunes, anthems and singalongs creates a maelstrom of jumping, sweaty, whirling bodies on the dancefloor everywhere they go.
shunTA’s non stop Balkan bacchanalia unites people, whether young or old, from all the nations under the sun. Audiences are transported to new and higher places, remembered or imagined, from the backstreet kafanas of old Yugoslavia to the wildest free party in a field under the stars.
shunTA! means “Listen up!” in Romani. The 9 piece mini orchestra includes a horn section (trumpet, clarinet, sax, sousaphone), string section (mandolin, tambura, violin), piano, drums, darbuka, and big, big vocals - bring your singing voice and your dancing shoes!

The duo ignite the stage with Gypsy fire and Tango passion, operatic melodrama and classical virtuosity plus some hot club and hillbilly mayhem!
